Christmas Eve BLIZZARD!!!

Never in a million years would I have guessed that we'd wake up to TONS of snow on Christmas Eve...in TEXAS, for cryin' out loud!!! It was so fun...Adam and I kept saying "What a day!!!" all day. We couldn't believe it. Normally, our Christmas Eve is spent here busying ourselves with packing for KY, Adam working hard doing last minute details for the Christmas Eve service at church, and him being gone much of the day working, practicing, etc... Today though, was restful and so nice--just being together. We played in the snow. I baked cookies. We opened presents. Everything in town pretty much shut down, including all Christmas Eve services, some restaurants, and all taxi services...nobody was going anywhere and it was awesome.
It was Emma's first time to see snow. She got a kick out of it and kept wanting to go back outside. She'd try to put her hat back on her head, manage to get a shoe on, but on the wrong foot, etc...bless her heart.

Merry Christmas!!!

She had snow in her eyelashes.

Getting ready to open presents.

Normally, Emma hears from us, "we don't rip paper...we don't rip books....no ripping anything!!!" So today was extra confusing for her. She'd get a piece of paper off and then hand it to me and say "Neh-noh" (aka "Here you go!") everytime. So sweet. She kept looking at us like "Seriously guys!?!? This is okay? I'm not getting trouble or a time-out after this!?!?! AWESOME!!!"

Vogue.
Round 2 of us back out in the snow...she did NOT like walking in it one bit. This is one of the few pics I got before she started screaming for Daddy to pick her up.

No, we did not travel to a ski-in, ski-out chalet this Christmas...Adam decided midday to get up in the attic and get his ski gear down and SKI down our driveway and street. Um-hum...that's my hubby. He had lots of fun and thankfully, didn't fall down or hurt his knee.

Check out the snow drift by our front porch. It totally covered our bushes.

Our snowy house.
One of Emma's favorite presents today was getting some bubbles. We gave her a bath tonight and she had lots of fun trying to grab them and pop them...

...and eat them?!?

Thanksgiving and since

I realized I hadn't posted any pics from Thanksgiving. Our good friends, The Thompsons, came to visit from CO and we had a blast. I didn't take a ton of pics, but here's a few to enjoy. Above...Emma was happy to take Levi's fox and viking hat but had a death grip on her blocks, which she plays with everyday. Interestingly, they got these blocks for her when she turned one. Hmmm...we need to work on her sharing skills...

Jammie-time! Ethan, Emma and Levi. Baby Lucas was already snoozing away in another room.

We went to go see the prairie dogs at the park...

Family photo!

Angie and I did some shopping and came home with a little dirt devil vaccuum. Emma was anxious to roll up her sleeves and help out with the housework. :)

Emma got to place the "Tah" on the tree again this year and knew exactly where it went.

Outside on a windy day in her winter coat...

I'm not sure what was so exciting but thought these pics were cute and captured her personality so well!

We've got wind-blown hair and couldn't care less.

Emma's started feeding herself with a spoon...not everytime, but sometimes she makes it clear that she can do it herself and does not want anyone's help. I love how proud she is of herself in the above pic...

Below is a video of her feeding herself...she's going to be a righty, I think. :)

It's a...

BOY!!!!!!
We found out yesterday, the 23rd. He's 6 inches long, heartbeat was 154, and he weighs 7 oz. The ultrasound lady says he looks perfect! We're happy that he's healthy. Apparently, he's LOW LOW LOW (which I already knew, but the ultrasound lady kept talking about it a lot). Sometimes I feel like if I laughed real hard, he could be born today. The nausea is getting better and now usually hits me in the evenings.
Adam is BEAMING. He was hoping for a boy this time so we'd have one of each and get to find out what that's like. I couldn't have cared less either way, but the more I ponder on what it will be like, the more excited I become. Gotta start thinking of names now (we had the girl one pretty much narrowed down, but the guys names still remain a mystery). We have started a list of "possibles." Adam said we can just continue to call him Skittles for now. Works for me. (Dad, the above is the long awaited belly picture you've been asking me about for a few months.)

Here's the finished tile work on our fireplace. We really like how it turned out...

Emma and Daddy and a "special leaf" from the yard.

Cheesing at each other. After seeing this picture, I realized that I don't have hardly ANY pics with Emma. It made me sad. Always being the photographer has it's drawbacks, I guess. Adam promised to pick up the camera more often. :) Hopefully it will be on a day that I'm out of my jammies and looking halfway presentable.

Okay, this might just be the cutest picture ever. At least I think so. Everytime she wears this dress, I think she must realize how sweet she looks. She keeps her matching pink shoes on (for a change) and prances around like she owns the place. Hmmm, how quickly she's able to "forget" who's in charge and who makes the rules. She's not even hit the "terrible two's" yet, but Adam and I definitely are seeing Miss Attitude evolve and have even seen a few tantrums already. Ooooh boy, anyone who knows us, knows that we're gonna do our very best to keep those in check and nip them in the bud (as much as you can hope to, when reasoning with a child).

"Hi Mommy!!! Daddy and I are just having some couch time, and I'm practicing sitting down like I'm supposed to, even though it's pretty boring and I'd rather be standing up."

Funny Story: The other day, Emma walked into her room, got her bible off her shelf, managed to get herself up and in her "bible story chair" where we always read at night, and started reading her bible to herself. I walked in her room and was so proud. Of all the books on that shelf, she loves her bible and always asks to read it.

A not-so-funny story: My "pregnancy brain" is in full effect. Today, I either A) did not put the railing up on her crib when I put her down for a nap (but I'm 99% sure I did), or B) it fell down when Emma went for her little climb... she totally climbed out and fell out of her crib!!! She was terrified but thankfully, not hurt, as best I could tell. The search is ON for a twin bed, mattress, ANYTHING. Skittles will need the crib, so the sooner we can get Emma used to her "big girl bed" the better. We'd like to find a used one, but from someone we know, so that hopefully it will be cootie-free. :) So, if you've got an extra one to sell, let us know!

"Oht"

Emma has learned to take off her clothes. Fun Fun. This day, I found her awake from her nap wearing her "wrap"--it allows one to to keep the arms warm while showing off one's belly. A very important fashion "must-have" for fall.

We decided to do one final thing to our fireplace to give it some pizzaz... (no, we have not gone crazy...the end result pictures will come soon!!!)

I love my guitar!!!!!

We went to Lawton, OK (an hour away) this weekend for the sole purpose of eating lunch at Chick-Fil-A. It was sooooo good. I can't ever resist taking pics of a sleepy baby...

Can you say "little stinker!?!?!" She'd been pressing her luck by standing up on the bed (a no-no) and crashing down into the pillows while I was trying to get ready for church.

Below is a video...Emma thinks she has learned her temperatures. When eating, she'll only eat her food if it is right out of the fridge...if it's warm at all it's considered "oht." She asks everytime she eats if her food is hot or not...so I started teaching her the word "warm" and "cold." Once, after taking off her shoes, I told her "oooh, your feet are hot!" Apparently, that was the wrong thing to say.... she now asks if EVERYTHING is "oht" or not (feet, toys, her own face, etc...). So cute!!!
The second part of the video is her playing her guitar, then remembering something out of the blue... hilarious!

Twirly Girly

Playing peek-a-boo with her book...

Below is a video of one of Emma's favorite things to do right now. She takes her "ipod" as we call it, makes it play a song, and twirls in circles while nodding her head. This is her newest dance move...she gets so dizzy! Enjoy...

I Love Guitars

Emma has a major crush on guitars. Everyday, she walks into the office and immediately asks to see one (on the computer). Daddy brought home one of his "backups" over the weekend for her to strum, etc....and, well, she broke it after 5 minutes. :) Luckily, it was easily fixed.

This was Emma's Sunday outfit, and I couldn't resist taking a few shots of her. She looked so grown up in her cream and black. Daddy even commented on how cute she looked...and then later on in the day said that it kind of looked like something that Michael Jackson would have worn. Maybe it was the shiny black shoes. Or perhaps the bows for "flair" going down the sleeves. Either way, give her a shiny studded glove and ask her to do the moonwalk, and she'd be set! I know I'm not going to be able to put her in this again without thinking "let's get on your Michael Jackson outfit!"
Onto other news...she woke up with a new tooth this morning...so the tooth count is up to 12!!!

Fun Weekend

Emma playing "queen"...I wrap my pj bottoms around her, making the perfect cape for her to prance around in.

This was taken on the way home from a playdate last week...she was all played out.

PaPa mailed her a dog the other day, and she LOVES it, as you'll see from the pictures... Thanks PaPa!!!

...giving him a hug...

...carrying him around everywhere.

We went to the pumpkin patch over the weekend, and it was FREEZING when we went, so hopefully we'll get another chance again maybe this week. We weren't able to stay long, but did snap a few quick pics.

I didn't realize there were so many different kinds of pumpkins...some of them look so weird!

"I think I'd just like to have this little one..."

More time with dog... so exciting!!!

Granna mailed Emma one of those musical/singing and talking cards the other day. She was scared of it at first, but soon realized that it was very fun to open and close herself. Thanks Granna!

For Halloween this year, E was Pebbles (from the Flintstones) and her good friend Colin was Bam-Bam. We had our Fall Festival at church last night and she was quite overwhelmed (in a good way) with all the decorations, people, games, etc. She had a blast!

Playing Moses and the Red Sea Bowling (aka...mostly carrying around the bowling ball and then walking through the pins to knock them over). Cute.

Pebbles and Bam-Bam

After we got home and I took her hair down, I couldn't resist taking this "crazy hair" pic.
