H is for Home

Caleb has really been enjoying "walking" around lately. He gets so excited and takes off as fast as his little legs will take him. :)

"This is SO fun Daddy!!!"

Emma was tickling Caleb. I'm pretty sure she got a bigger kick out of it than he did. Oh, and check out her new jammies~guitar jammies!!!! She loves them.

Little cutie. He's been sick for a few days now... not sure what is going on but he's not really eating much at all. Hope he gets over the bug soon. Even though he feels bad, he still is the sweetest little thing and doesn't complain hardly at all.

Big girl time!
They wanted to watch a show (Word World is the current favorite). Emma insisted on holding Caleb during the show...

Another new favorite show is "The Letter Factory." This has been great for our "learning" time...the show explains what sound each letter of the alphabet makes and sings a little ditty with each letter. Now Emma walks around the house and says random things like: "Mommy, B is for Breakfast!" or "C is for carrot!"

Funny Story: The other night I realized just how messed up and hard to learn our English language truly is. She and I were taking a shower, and she was saying things like "T is for toes! L is for leg!" and so I chimed in and started saying some letters and words too. "Yes Emma, that's right! And E is for eye!" I said without thinking.
"E is for I?" she asked.
"Yes! E is for eye!" I replied.
She looked up at me, trying to make sense of what I said. The look was kind of like what a dog does when he cocks his head sideways and perks up his ears all confused-like... I could just see the wheels turning in her mind and she was trying so hard to "get it." Oh well...we'll have to save the continuation of that lesson for another day.

Big girl gift: KEYS!!!
I decided I wanted to do a few "big girl gifts" for Emma to really show her that becoming a big girl and "lady" as we call it sometimes is a process, and there is no going back. (to diapers!) I am trying to show her she is changing into a new phase of her life. ;) And a little encouragement along the way can't hurt, right?
Her first big girl gift was the fragrance foam bottle which she loved. This week, I went to Lowe's and got a few free keys from the "messed up keys" box and bought a keychain that Caleb could not choke on. She has loved those keys SO much.
I have one more big girl gift planned for this next week and then we'll be done with those. I bring the gifts out so sporadically that she won't miss them...I do, however, need to wean her off the fruit snacks she gets for going to the potty. She has eaten more sugar in the 2 weeks of potty training from those fruit snacks than she's had her whole life. :)

Okay, the Big Girl Time pic shows these three with the same mouth. I guess slowly, but surely, I'm going to figure out who Caleb looks like-one part at a time.(ha)
I'm glad to see Caleb's progression, but sad to see he's leaving the baby stage so quickly. You know me and babies!!
Emma is so smart -- I wouldn't have thought about the E for I thing so quickly either.
