Crafting with Dani

I finally finished a project I started last year: making 25 ornaments for our Jesse Tree. We started this family tradition last Christmas, but used coloring pages instead of ornaments since I didn't have them ready yet. You can imagine, many of them had to be homemade...I mean, you can't exactly buy The Ten Commandments at Wal-Mart. :) Here are a few of my favorite ornaments...

Noah's Ark.

Lamb.
(This was a wooden back massager til I got a hold of it).

Jonah's big fish.
(I made this out of felt).

This is the scripture for Day 1 of our devotions. I decided to make it a banner which will go at the top of our tree. I thought it was pretty neat how later in this same passage, the Bible says (v. 10) "In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious."

David's slingshot.

King David's crown.
(Okay, I didn't make this one, but you have no idea how hard it was to find a "manly" crown. Everytime I'd find one I'd be so girly and princessy).

Elijah's Altar.
I just love how they all turned out. It feels great when you finally finish a big project you've been working on for a while too.

Adam and I were JUST talking about how it probably isn't necessary to have 2 bedrails on Emma's queen bed. Um... we were mistaken. This is how Emma was sleeping just a few nights ago. ha ha!

Happy Birthday Daddy! We love you!

Emma's Homemade 3rd Birthday Gift from Mommy: an apron!

I was trying to decide between making her a doll and an apron, but since she's going to be having a cooking party, the apron seemed to be the obvious choice. I had a lot of fun making this one. I finished it just a few hours ago- it was fairly easy and fast to make. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out-- I just can't wait til she gets to open it and try it on!

I am so behind on blogging...Last Friday, I had a gum graft done and currently have something like 30 stitches in my mouth. It was NOT fun. Worse than when I got 4 wisdom teeth cut out in college and worse than when I had 8 teeth pulled/cut out when I was in the 5th grade. (Hmmm...Either I'm getting wimpier, or the ranking is because I was awake for the whole thing and will have to deal with issues for 3 months while I heal up). It's been hard to talk and eat, and still hurts to laugh and smile (something hard not to do when when you live with Adam and two hilarious children), but it's getting better.

You did such a good job on the ornaments!! I'll never forget all the looking we did here last year looking for some; but they wouldn't have come close to comparing with yours!
