Gone Fishing

The kids were all smiles at snack time.

In Emma's baby book, I have a page where she is able to print her name at various ages, as well as print her ABC's. On Thursday, she got to write her first entry in her baby book. LOVE it. I cherish it already, and can't wait for her to watch the video we took of her writing it someday when she's grown. She has certainly done her letters better before, but there was a lot of pressure here...she got to use an ink pen (which is a very special treat for her). ha

We have a couple from church in the hospital, and Emma made them a get well card. She cut all the pieces and drew the stem, and then glued each piece. Daddy helped her put them on the paper to make a flower.

Here's the inside...
(isn't this the cutest thing you've ever seen?!?!?)

This morning, we got up and went fishing with our friends Scott and Jenifer, and their girls Kalli and Alyssa. It was Emma's first time to fish, and she got to use Kalli's pink Barbie pole. Awesome.

The girls were excited to fish together!!!

Well, I ended up catching 3 fish!!! (I have no idea how). And it was with the Barbie pole, no less! ha ha
Here is a picture of the the first one...

Funny Story: All of us were fishing with minnows, and Emma seemed to think that "fishing" was reeling in that minnow on her hook, over and over. She was so excited each time, because, of course, each time she had "caught" a fish. She had no idea it was the same, dying minnow, whose body was stuck on a hook and being dragged all over the pond. hilarious. So, when I caught that big-daddy catfish, she was shocked. Stunned, really. She couldn't believe her eyes. "I don't like it!!!" she exclaimed. Then, it started flopping around, like all fish-out-of-water do, and forget it...she was all done with that fish. But once we got a minnow back on, she was good to go another round.

Caleb was looking cool in Daddy's sunglasses.
Scott took Emma for her first ride on a 4-wheeler. It was short and sweet. She was not a fan.
Hmph. Maybe Caleb will be our little daredevil.

Here fishy, fishy, fishy...

Caleb didn't fish, but loved being outside and doing "boy" things.

Favorite picture of the Day.
Caleb and Emma couldn't get enough of the minnow bucket. They loved peering into it and watching all of them swim around. It was too cute for words.

I love the fact that you look mortified to have to touch the icky fish but you still manage to put your game face on and smile for the camera. lol

yeah, i know! he wanted me to hold it, but i was afraid i'd get finned or drop it or something like that. if i reacted negatively at all, emma would have bolted. she was on the verge of bolting, just having to look at the thing! so i played it safe. :)
