I am behind on blogging, so thought I'd post a ton of pics from vacation. We spent a few days at San Diego and it was the kiddos first time at the beach.

At LaJolla beach.

At first glance, Emma is not the outdoorsy type. She was having the hardest time even walking barefoot in the dry, loose sand, bless her soul. She didn't want to walk near the water, etc...
but by the end of it all, she told Daddy, "Daddy, come on! Let's go walk into the sunshine!!!" (the sun was setting). They walked out pretty far into the waves and got soaked. She loved it.

Seeing a Giant Panda for the first time...

The tram ride at the zoo.

Funny story:
This guy in the lion costume waved "hi" to Emma and she would have nothing to do with him. Deep down she wanted to like him, but she just couldn't work up the courage to come near him or even give him a high five. Caleb, on the other hand, took one look at the giant "lion stuffed animal" and stretched out his arms as wide as they could go (his way of asking for a hug). It was precious.

Um....
someone was not too keen on sitting atop of the giant lion statue.

"Look!!!! I see elephants!!!!"

Making a sandcastle...

...it's hard work...

...especially when one of your helpers keeps eating the sand...

"pppppttttt"

"Why do I keep eating it even though I hate the way it tastes!?!?!"

"Yuck!!!!"

"How long before the gritty feeling goes away???"

Below is a video of Emma's first time in the ocean...
